Thea Darlow's artistic journey began in Gwanda, Zimbabwe, on a farm where creativity was an integral part of her childhood. Guided by her mother, Joan, a renowned watercolor artist, Thea's passion for painting blossomed. Her ever-evolving expressionist style deftly blends various mediums, delving into the rich spectrum of color.

Under the mentorship of esteemed South African artist Laura Wenman, Thea honed her artistic skills, focusing on drawing, keen observation, and perspective. Mastery of oil painting and workshops with artists Ryno Swart and Jenny Merritt expanded her artistic repertoire, enabling her to craft large expressionist and abstract works enriched with acrylic paint.

The ancient Matobo Hills, which hold a special place in her heart, evoke a profound sense of the divine and the feminine. Now based in Cape Town, Thea's focus is on capturing the graceful forms of Lions Head and the resilient Stony Pine trees, enduring the relentless South Easter wind. Her work graces galleries and commissioned projects, with boundless inspiration drawn from the captivating Table Mountain view and the surrounding landscapes.
